Peconic Landing is proud to share a recent interview highlighting President and CEO Bob Syron, who appeared as a guest on The Floyd Memorial Library Podcast. The series, available at WLIW.org is dedicated to gathering and preserving the stories of the people who shape life on the North Fork.  

In Episode 205, Bob offers a thoughtful look at the experiences that have defined his more than two decades of service on the East End. Since arriving at Peconic Landing in 2003, he has helped guide the organization’s transformation into a nationally recognized Life Plan community known for cultural programming, civic engagement and a progressive approach to wellness. Under his leadership, Peconic Landing has earned national accreditation and an investment-grade Fitch rating while building a collaborative environment that serves more than 400 members and employs roughly 300 staff.  

During the conversation, Bob reflects on his upbringing, the path that led him to Greenport and the leadership philosophy shaped by decades in healthcare and elder services. He discusses pivotal moments including organizing the East End’s first large-scale COVID-19 vaccination clinic and partnering with Stony Brook Medicine to create the new Center for Well-Being. He also shares his hopes for the next generation and how the broader North Fork community can continue to grow with purpose.
