Dr. Kai M. Stürmann is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and he has been a full time Attending Physician in ELIH’s Emergency Department since 2011. He is currently the Director of Quality within Emergency Medicine, and a Member of the Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Stürmann is also an Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine.
Originally hailing from Düsseldorf, Germany, Dr. Stürmann is fluent in three languages: German, English, and Spanish. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Southampton College, Long Island University in Southampton, NY before going on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from Universidad del Noreste, School of Medicine in Tampico, Mexico. He then completed the Fifth Pathway Program at SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. Dr. Stürmann completed his Internship and Residency in Emergency Medicine at Worcester City Hospital/University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA where he earned the title of Chief Resident, Department of Emergency Medicine.
