A healthy thirst for knowledge never ends…
Our community-based academic experience, Lifetime Learning, offers opportunities to take classes and share your knowledge on a particular subject with peers in a study group setting. Examples of topics range from current events, poetry appreciation and the arts of Japan to the energy crisis. Offerings change with each semester. The Lifetime Learning program received national accolades when it was invited to participate in Elderquest, a nationwide program sponsored by the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and partially funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. In fact, Peconic Landing was one of only two community-based learning centers to be recognized without having an affiliation with a college or university. Our university-style classes are member run and taught, allowing individuals to learn and share with one another. Nearly half of our membership participates during learning semesters, which are offered each winter, spring, and fall. Click here for the Spring 2018 Lifetime Learning Course Catalog.
In addition to Lifetime Learning, there are multiple opportunities each month to participate in lectures and learning experiences taught by expert guests in health, the arts and the environment. Below are some campus locations where you can pursue lifetime learning and growth.
