GREEN PORT, N.Y., August 15, 2023 – Peconic Landing, the East End’s only life plan community, is delighted to announce that New York Senator Anthony Palumbo will visit campus on August 27 to honor and present proclamations to 13 centenarians currently residing at the community. The event will take place in Peconic Landing’s Community Center starting at 3pm. The honored centenarians consist of individuals residing in independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing at Peconic Landing, exemplifying the diverse and inclusive nature of the community.
“We are honored to celebrate the incredible achievements of our 13 centenarians and to share their stories,” said Robert J. Syron, President and CEO of Peconic Landing. ‘These individuals have led extraordinary lives and have made remarkable contributions to society, making an undeniable impact on their families, friends, and communities. Their experiences and wisdom serve as an inspiration to all of us, and we couldn’t be more proud to have them as members at Peconic Landing.”
The centenarians who will be recognized during this special event range from 100 to 103 years of age, five of whom (including the two eldest) still reside in Independent Living. Their biographies include birthplaces all over the world and showcase careers spanning from librarians and business owners to university professors and doctors of medicine. The group also includes a concentration camp survivor who was liberated by American soldiers. The centenarians are:

During the ceremony, Senator Palumbo will also recognize the achievements of Peconic Landing team members Patricia Lutzky, Senior Vice President of Independent Living, and Jennifer Drofenik, Director of Health Services and Assisted Living Administrator. Recently, Lutzky was honored by McKnight’s Senior Living with its 2023 Women of Distinction Hall of Honor Award, which recognizes top executives across the country who have made a significant impact in senior living. Drofenik was recently honored with LeadingAge New York’s Thomas Clarke Memorial Award, which recognizes personal integrity and professional dedication in leaders under the age of 40 in long-term care, housing, and services administration.
