GREENPORT, N.Y., November 22, 2023 – The Bluffs for Short-Term Rehabilitation at Peconic Landing has been named one of the “Best Nursing Homes” for the 2023-2024 year by U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in health care rankings. The Bluffs is among the top 19% of skilled nursing centers in the nation that have been recognized in this cycle.
To qualify as a “Best Nursing Home,” care centers must have received the highest possible rating of High Performing, according to the U.S. News methodology report. Ratings reflect the publication’s exclusive analysis of care, safety, health inspections, staffing, and quality outcome measures, using data primarily obtained from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
“We are thrilled that our commitment to providing exceptional care has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for the seventh year in a row,” said Robert J. Syron, President and CEO of Peconic Landing. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our team members and the supportive environment we have cultivated.”
For the 2024 edition, U.S. News rated more than 15,000 nursing homes on patient and resident outcomes, such as infection rates; staffing levels; potentially inappropriate reliance on antipsychotic drugs; health inspection results and other indicators of quality.
“U.S. News’ Best Nursing Homes ratings give patients, senior residents, their families and caregivers an objective assessment of quality, to help them choose the facility that best fits their individual needs,” said Ben Harder, Chief of Health Analysis and Managing Editor at U.S. News. “Nursing homes that have earned the recognition of U.S. News have a track record of achieving better outcomes for patients and residents, and maximizing the amount of care they receive from nurses and other staff.”
Compared to state and national averages, The Bluffs at Peconic Landing had higher levels of nurse and physical therapist staffing, a higher ratio of RN staffing devoted to direct patient care, fewer infections resulting in hospitalizations, fewer emergency room visits, fewer major falls, and a higher percentage of residents who were able to return home after being discharged. “Receiving this honor validates our unwavering focus on member well-being and quality of life across all levels of care,” said Gregory Garrett, Chief Operating Officer and Administrator of Health Services at Peconic Landing. “Congratulations and thank you to each and every team member in the Bluffs who has made this recognition possible.”
