GREENPORT, N.Y., June 22, 2026 — Peconic Landing proudly announces that President and CEO Robert J. Syron has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Lawrence E. Larson Memorial Award of Honor, the highest recognition presented by LeadingAge New York, a statewide association representing over 600 nonprofit and mission-driven providers and 150,000 professionals in aging services across New York State. The award was presented during LeadingAge New York’s annual conference and awards ceremony on May 19,2026.

Named in honor of LeadingAge New York’s first chairman, the Lawrence E. Larson Memorial Award of Honor recognizes an individual who has demonstrated distinguished service, dedication, humanitarian achievement, and professional vision in the field of aging services. The award honors leaders who have made outstanding contributions at both the state and national level.
With more than 35 years of experience in aging services and over two decades leading Peconic Landing, Syron has helped shape the organization into one of the nation’s premier life plan communities through a leadership philosophy grounded in transparency, innovation, wellness, and deep respect for older adults.
“In the past 23 years, Bob’s leadership has transformed Peconic Landing and enriched the lives of countless individuals,”said Eileen T. McGuire, Chair of Peconic Landing’s Board of Trustees. “When I think about what sets Peconic Landing apart — the sense of community, the genuine care people show for one another, the commitment to excellence — so much of that is reflected in who Bob is. Over the past two decades, he has helped build an environment where people feel supported and encouraged to thrive.”
Under Syron’s leadership, Peconic Landing has expanded its continuum of care by adding Short-Term Rehabilitation and Memory Support, launched the Center for Well-Being in partnership with Stony Brook Medicine, earned national recognition for wellness and healthcare excellence,and strengthened its commitment to community engagement throughout the East End.
Syron is also deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of aging services professionals. Since joining Peconic Landing in 2003, he has personally mentored 33 interns pursuing careers in the field,with two more interns joining the organization this year.
“Bob is laser-focused on Peconic Landing’s mission, and he bases his decisions, big and small, on what is in the best interest of the members,” said McGuire. “He leads with integrity, and he does all of it with a remarkable sense of purpose.”
Syron’s influence extends beyond Peconic Landing through partnerships with regional healthcare organizations, support for local nonprofits, and a longstanding commitment to advancing successful aging initiatives statewide.
“I am deeply honored to accept this award. To be recognized by an organization that represents so many dedicated professionals is truly meaningful to me,” Syron said during the awards ceremony on May 19.“Any success associated with my name is really the result of extraordinary teams and communities working together on behalf of our mission.”
Syron was recently recognized among the Top 5 Wellness Executives in senior living communities across North America through the 2025 ICAA NuStep Pinnacle Awards. He is also a past recipient of the James W. Sanderson Memorial Award for Leadership in Long-Term Care from LeadingAge New York. Syron holds degrees in Health Science & Public Administration and Healthcare Management, as well as a Certified Aging Services Professional certification, an honor held by approximately 2,000 individuals nationwide.
